Is golf simple or complex? How you see the game depends on your point of view. Is it hit the ball, find it, and hit it again, or feel anxious and worried about where the ball is and how to hit when you find it? POINT A shows you that simple is highly effective and improving your game is more about where your mind is than where your backswing is. You control your thoughts, and your thoughts control everything. Whether it's a drive from the first tee, a lob over a bunker or your last putt to break a new low score, the key is to play every shot from POINT A.

Professional golfers will often credit record-breaking rounds to playing "one shot at a time." The fact that you can play only "one shot at a time" seems so obvious that many golfers take this basic truth for granted. Others believe they are already playing "one shot at a time" when they are not. How to play one shot at a time is the question. With its simple and logical plan for what to think, how to think and when to think on the golf course, playing from POINT A is the answer.

The book was delightful and very insightful. I am not much of a golfer, but the philosophy of Point A ,resonated a chord with me.. I meet Valerie Lazar at a book signing. She spoke so well about handling" life's" questions, not just golf questions. Valerie is not only a wonderful writer, but a knowledgable and very helpful life coach. What a benefit to my life having meet her, and having long conversations with her since that meeting. I look forward to her future insights and maybe her next book.

GOLF from POINT A eBook Susie Meyers Valerie Lazar Reviews

I was fortunate enough to have been gifted this book from a very insightful friend who knew that I would find it fascinating. Being a non-golfer, I was curious to see if I would get much out of reading it. Within the first few pages if not paragraphs, I was hooked! It reads so easily, especially keeping the message clear and simple so even a non-golfer can follow. Golf from Point A's lessons extend far beyond just helping your golf game. You can apply these valuable pearls of wisdom into every aspect of your life. After reading Golf from Point A, I have applied its lessons into my career and also have become very much aware of how my thinking can change the world around me. I can only imagine that golfers would find this approach to the game invaluable.

I highly recommend this book for everyone. It's not just for golfers. It's an easy and fun read, you won't regret!
As an avid golfer since age 13, I have had a particular interest in the psychological side of golf for decades. My coach put "The Inner Game of Golf" by W. Timothy Gallwey in my hands when I was in college. More recently I have enjoyed Dr. Gio Valiante’s books on “golf flow” - fascinating, detailed studies in finding and staying in “the zone”. With that preface, I can say unequivocally that "Golf from Point A" by Susie Meyers and Valerie Lazar is a concise, thoughtfully articulated and highly entertaining treatise on the mental aspect of golf that deserves the full attention of any student of the game. It is a map for controlling one’s mind on the course, on the range (and in general!), delighting in the shot at hand and moving onto the next with the same level of focus and fun. In my humble opinion, this is THE way to play this great sport in order to achieve one’s full potential. Thanks to Susie and Valerie for sharing your collective wisdom and wit in making the concepts understandable and entirely relatable to all golfers as they progress through the growth objectives they set for their unique games.
Great read and invaluable insight into the game of golf! I read this book in a matter of hours - "one page at a time"! I found it incredibly helpful not only for myself but for coaching, which is what I do for High School boys. I just used Golf from Point A's techniques this past weekend with a 16 year old playing a junior tournament on the Champions course at PGA National. His first round was really tough and he was distracted, impatient, and playing in windy rainy conditions - was totally unfocused and thus shot a high number. We chatted that night and I shared some of this book's wisdom with him. Patience, one shot at a time, visualize and commit, do NOT worry about the results, as well as asking him to choose a physical tool he could use, (take off his glove before every shot, or turn the cap of his water bottle both ways before he addressed his shot). He went out the next morning at 730, and played the hardest 9 of that course (including the Bear Trap), patiently, methodically and one shot at a time - the result was 38, 2 over par on the some of the hardest 9 holes in Southeast Florida. This book is wonderful for all levels of golfers! It will not only help you play better but help you enjoy the journey more! Great job Valerie and Susie.
Point A golf seems too simple, too basic, too obvious, too easy to be true. Honestly it is simple but it is not easy. I have read so many golf books that have stressed the way my ever present mind and roller coaster emotions hinder my performance. And they are all correct and give useful valid information. What sets this book apart for me is that I sooo identify with the material and the cure is presented in lucid appropriately repetitive language and images that I can carry off the range into the course. In one recent round I was 10 over par after 4 holes when I decided to ignore my recent golf lesson about shifting my hip forward at the start of the downswing and instead returned to point A where I was present without attachment to but with acceptance of where the ball went and just trusted the "marvelous me". The next 5 holes were played in one under par. I played late last Friday afternoon in a sunny long shadowed beautiful day and again I struggled with keeping my left shoulder from rotating left too soon in Oder to avoid my perennial over the top move. I was 11 over par after 5 holes and then returned to point A and shot par on each of the next 5 holes. Today I was in a Pinehurst tournament where we came in second low net all because of the "marvelous me" and my "magic club" all of which is a direct result of Point A Golf. Thank you Susie Myers and Valerie Lazar. You are both Golf Giddesses.
If you are looking for a "how to" manual that will teach you the basics of golf, the grip, stance etc., this is not your book. However, if you are looking for a book that will give you a great plan for playing the "game", then look no further. This is the "holy grail" of game plans. Simple, well written and easy to follow. It would be beneficial to both low and high handicappers. I wish this had been written 20 years ago. It would have saved me a lot of frustration and self deprecating comments to myself! Even though this book does not focus on technique, the section on "swish" was a game changer for me. I am able to hit the ball farther and straighter than ever before. It actually helps you to find your "natural" swing!
After reading Golf From Point A, I find I am a much happier, calmer and probably more pleasant to be around golfer no matter what my final score is. And isn't that the point! Thank you Susie and Valerie!
